Become a Lifeguard

The Terrace & District Aquatic Centre needs lifeguards! A shortage of lifeguards in Terrace and around the province is affecting pool programming. 

Why become a lifeguard

Lifeguarding is an excellent starting point for those who want to work within their community as a first responder, teacher, sports coach, or medical professional. Becoming a lifeguard can lead you on a path to a long-term career in recreation management, facility operation, and many more interesting professions.

Benefits

Training

The City of Terrace regularly hosts training programs to support lifeguard skill development. Some courses are offered at a 50% discount for those planning to use the training to work at our facility; check the course descriptions for the full criteria.

Training Progress

  1. Bronze Medallion/Bronze Cross
  2. Standard First Aid & CPR or Aquatic Emergency Care
  3. National Lifeguard
  4. Swim Instructor
