Thornhill Transfer Station Landfill Site

Terrace residents are welcome to use the Thornhill Transfer Station at 3016 Old Lakelse Lake Road if they miss their weekly Curbside Collection service in Terrace and area, have bulky items or larger loads of refuse, organics or other materials they need to dispose of. The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine (RDKS) runs the Thornhill Transfer Station.  

All visitors will be required to “scale in”, deposit their materials and “scale out” with tipping fees in effect. A minimum charge of $10 applies and covers up to 200 lbs. / 90 kgs. of material.

Materials permitted for disposal at the Transfer Station include garbage, metal, yard and garden waste, clean wood, and demolition materials.

Materials not permitted include paper and cardboard, Extended Producer Responsibility program and take back products,  such as tires, car batteries, beverage containers, paints, used oil, outdoor power equipment and much more. Over 200 common household and yard wastes can be taken back at local depots.

The Terrace Landfill at 555 Kalum Lake Road, north of the municipal boundary is CLOSED.
