Thanks to a recent commitment from LNG Canada and annual successful grant applications to Northern Development Initiative Trust, the City of Terrace’s Grant Writing Support program will continue through 2023.
The City of Terrace ran the program as a pilot in 2020, providing the services of a professional grant writer to City staff and local community groups. It was administered throughout the year, with assistance from the Terrace Community Foundation and financial support from Northern Development Initiative Trust and LNG Canada. In addition to the City, 10 local non-profits were assisted, and grant applications totaled over $6.5 million in 2020.
The grant writer is available to the City to assist in its goal of increasing City revenues, and a share of the support will go towards local not-for-profit associations. Local groups can gain access through an application process to demonstrate the need for a grant writer, the ability of applicants to complete the projects they wish to accomplish, and the community benefit the projects will bring.
The City’s work with the Terrace Community Foundation has streamlined the application and evaluation process to ensure community groups in Terrace get the support they need in a timely fashion. The first intake for grant writer support applications of the year is now open and will close June 10, with the next intake announced following the award of the previous intake’s support. An online application form and downloadable form are available at the City’s website at terrace.ca/grants.
“The wonderful support from LNG Canada gives this program long-term reliability that local groups need to fulfil their goals of in their community. I look forward to the vibrancy and resiliency this will bring to Terrace.” – Mayor Carol Leclerc, City of Terrace
