Every day, and especially today, we aim to recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada.

The photo in this post is of a totem pole gifted to the City of Terrace by Kitsumkalum in 1987. The pole stands between City Hall and the RCMP detachment on Eby Street. Part of what the crests on the pole represent is "progress for the future". The City values its relationships with both Kitsumkalum and Kitselas First Nations, and we value working together, for progress, for all of our futures.

For more info about the pole's history, meaning, and three carvers, visit City Hall and read the plaque that stands at its base.
