Fire Department

Statement issued by Fire Chief Joel Brousson of the Terrace Fire Department

TERRACE, BC - Following an extensive fire investigation on the 4500 block of Olson Ave, the Terrace Fire Department would like to provide an update on the findings and circumstances surrounding this incident.

On January 27, 2025, fire crews responded to a structure fire at 06:24. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke accumulation inside the building with low visibility conditions. During fire suppression efforts, fire crews found one adult female, who was immediately extricated from the structure, with life saving measures initiated. Despite life saving measures taken, the adult female was declared deceased at the hospital.

The Terrace Fire Department will continue to work closely with the RCMP to review the investigation and ensure public safety moving forward.

We would like to remind all residents of the importance of fire safety, regular inspections, and keeping living spaces free of excess clutter that can exacerbate fire risks.

On behalf of the Terrace Fire Department, I would like to extend our thoughts to those affected by this incident and thank BC Ambulance and RCMP for their support. These calls weigh heavy on all first responders, and we are committed to bringing professionalism and stability to each emergency call we attend.
