It often gets busy around here and we forget to share the good news stories in all the hustle and bustle. With that in mind, we like to look back at some of the great things that happened in the past several months that we haven't had a chance to talk about.

In January 2024, the Terrace Fire Department added a significant enhancement to the department's pre-hospital emergency medical response capabilities by equipping our frontline fire engines with the state-of-the-art LUCAS CPR device. This cutting-edge technology ensures high-quality, uninterrupted chest compressions during cardiac emergencies, a crucial factor in increasing survival rates.

“The LUCAS device represents a major step forward in Terrace Fire's mission to provide the best possible emergency care,” says Fire Chief Chad Cooper. “With this tool, our firefighters can deliver consistent, effective CPR, allowing them to focus on other critical lifesaving measures.”

This technology supports firefighters in delivering top-notch medical assistance to enhance the overall safety and wellbeing of Terrace residents. Since its deployment, it has been utilized in more than 10 medical emergencies. “The addition of the LUCAS device not only enhances Terrace Fire’s operational capabilities but also underscores our commitment to investing in technology that saves lives and improves outcomes for the community we serve. Our firefighters play a critical role in enhancing the community’s well-being, and this device is a testament to that commitment," Chief Cooper says.

Terrace Fire is proud to lead the way in adopting innovative solutions that make a real difference.
