ROADS UPDATE: Monday, January 17
Roads began to freeze over around 7 am this morning. Please drive with caution and watch for black ice while our Public Works team works to regain traction after this recent freeze-up. Salt/sanding will be completed following the priority routes identified in our Snow and Ice Control Policy (which you can find at https://www.terrace.ca/snow).
A reminder that potholes are inevitable due to the freeze-thaw cycle and the significant temperature fluctuations we’ve had so far this winter. Crews are filling potholes this morning, in addition to addressing the slippery conditions and clogged storm drains. It will take some time to address all the potholes that formed during this last freeze/thaw event, so please drive with caution. And remember: we can only use temporary fixes on potholes until warmer, drier weather allows us to complete more permanent fixes. That means that potholes usually need to be refilled multiple times (sometimes daily) over the winter. We keep our eyes on ones on main routes, but if you would like to report a pothole, please contact Public Works at 250-615-4021.
