UPDATED – FERRY ISLAND IMPROVEMENTS UNDERWAY:
We are starting work on Ferry Island on Monday, April 25, that requires significant vehicle traffic while trucks deliver gravel to the site. In order to safely transport the necessary gravel for these projects, Ferry Island will be temporarily closed from about 6 am to 5 pm on April 25 until this portion of the work is complete.
We apologize for the inconvenience but this will ensure the efficient delivery of our necessary supplies while keeping you safe. Please visit later in the evening or later in the week.
The east end (overflow) parking area will continue to be closed for the rest of the day on Monday, April 25, through Wednesday, April 27. There will be barricades up; please respect the work going on and park in the main parking area. Since there will be active machine work, please avoid the walking trails near the east end picnic shelters during this time. We are working on two projects:
- Improvements to the overflow parking area: You may have noticed a few potholes—we are going to have those fixed up for camping and fishing season.
- The Terrace Community Forest crew will be adding gravel crush to the areas around the picnic shelters. This work will enhance accessibility for wheelchairs and others to the picnic areas on Ferry Island.
Thank you for your cooperation while we improve the park!
