FireSmart recommendations are based on scientific evidence that suggests changes to the built environment are the best and most cost effective ways to increase a home's survivability from wildfire.

Free home assessments are offered through the Home Partners Program, a voluntary property assessment program that helps identify specific actions residents can take on their property to reduce wildfire risks. The home assessment is conducted by a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist (Terrace FireSmart Coordinator) at no cost to the homeowner.

Once the inspection is complete, a detailed report is provided with recommendations to reduce wildfire risk to the property.
The City of Terrace is currently working on a Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan (CWRP), with a planned completion date of June 2025. The CWRP will outline recommendations with suggested priority levels. These, along with regional fire departments and other stakeholder input, will outline next steps and future plans to reduce wildfire risk within Terrace.
