We’re gearing up for our annual closure at the TDAC, running from July 1 to 19. This annual closure is needed to complete work that can’t take place during the rest of the year while the facility is open to the public. Work includes:

  • Annual maintenance for all pool systems
  • Repairs
  • Grouting
  • Deep cleaning pool basins and other areas
  • Capital projects that require multi-day closures

Our goal is to keep the pool healthy and functional, which helps reduce maintenance-related service impacts throughout the year.

Note to passholders: All active memberships are extended for the number of days lost during the closure.

You may have noticed – We’re doing things a little differently this year by holding our annual pool shutdown in July rather than August/September. Nope, there isn’t a perfect time to do this work, but it must be done each year, and our numbers don’t lie: historically, July is the quietest month at the TDAC, with many people away on vacation or pursuing outdoor adventures locally. Meanwhile, September marks the start of school and if we’re open, we can get back to public swims, lesson offerings, and school field trips sooner. Also, the annual closures in our neighbouring communities of Kitimat and Prince Rupert are happening later in the summer, so we can help our collective residents by staggering our annual closures.

We aim to reopen on Saturday, July 20, with a welcome-back public swim. Our full summer schedule will start on Sunday, July 21. Summer swimming lessons will also start upon reopening. Stay tuned for the full schedule and lesson registration details coming soon.
